Paperoute

Changing the financing landscape through human-centered design.

Paperoute helps small to medium sized business owners streamline qualifying customers for financing without the hassle of a hard credit check.

Paperoute’s Human Branding Framework

Origins

Mike O'Connell spent eight years in home-improvement lending and rose to VP of partnerships. Lenders never show how they decide who gets approved ("if we showed you how we made the cookies, you'd make your own"). Sitting in board meetings, Mike kept looking at that data and thinking the same thing: if contractors saw what he saw, they'd run their businesses differently.
Axis

Contractor first. Paperoute gives businesses the lender-side view of their own customers' credit, the view that's always been kept from them.
Beliefs & Behaviors

The contractor is the forgotten link that makes financing work, and deserves the same information lenders use.

Paperoute shows credit quality by customer and by marketing channel, so businesses can pick their lenders and set their own terms based on real data, not a sales pitch.
Signals

One line sums up the whole category: Goldilocks is a myth. No lender approves everybody.
Outsiders

Built for growing businesses that offer financing. Not for large enterprises with their own lending setup, or regulated categories like mortgage, auto, and tenant screening.
Future

Become a feature inside the CRMs and sales platforms contractors already use.

Project Breakdown

Paperoute is soft credit check reporting software for businesses that run in-house financing, founded by Mike to give small business owners back control over who qualifies for their services. We began with our Human Branding Framework, then refined their logo into a bolder, more personable mark that elevates their signature red, yellow, and green stoplight colors. We rebuilt their pricing with clearly named tiers and token math so customers understand what they’ll pay before they ever book a demo. The new website trades typical tech-heavy SaaS design for real people, plain language, custom pricing sliders, and playful feature animations, all leading to a simple, open path to schedule a demo.
